USACE Engineering with Nature – www.engineeringwithnature.org
Engingeering with Nature (EWN) Podcast Season 1 Episode #8 featuring Monica Chasten. Monica was the moving force leading the USACE Philadelphia District to become the third EWN Proving Ground in 2016. As a Project Manager in the Philadelphia District’s Operations Division, Monica leads a portfolio of several coastal, navigation and flood risk management projects for the District, including the 117-mile New Jersey Intracoastal Waterway. She talks about her collaborative efforts, following Hurricane Sandy, to apply Engineering With Nature to produce a diversity of economic, engineering, environmental and social value through the beneficial use of sediments dredged from navigation channels. And she discusses the collaboration undertaken through the formation of the Seven Mile Island Innovation Lab–a cross-sector partnership of organizations that is combining knowledge sharing, research, innovation in practice, and practical application. You can access the podcast on the EWN website above.
