USGS Coastal Storm Modeling System (CoSMoS)

CoSMoS Availability in Washington

CoSMoS is currently being rolled out in Washington. This page provides an overview of what products exist, when they are expected for different locations around the state, and how you can access those products.

Overview of CoSMoS Products

There are three total CoSMoS products:

    1. Coastal Overland Flooding – exposure data for coastal flooding based on coastal storm and sea level rise scenarios
    2. Coastal Groundwater – exposure data for groundwater depths based on sea level rise scenarios
    3. Shoreline Change – exposure data for shoreline change hazards (e.g., erosion) based on sea level rise, storm, and coastal management scenarios

How to Access CoSMoS Products

CoSMoS products are available in two formats:

    1. Interactive Web Tool – USGS Hazards Exposure Reporting and Analytics (HERA)
    2. Downloadable Geospatial Files
