Appleton Figueira, Sebastião
Sebastião is an early-career coastal engineering professional with specialized expertise in numerical modeling, wave and circulation analysis, sediment transport, and nature-based coastal design. He has led and supported hydrodynamic and wave modeling efforts, developed and implemented nature-based feature designs, and aided in community planning on projects across the U.S. Sebastião is recognized for developing transferable modeling tools and contributing to habitat restoration and coastal resilience initiatives across diverse physical settings. He completed his master’s degree at Oregon State University where he focused on coastal flood resilience and recovery, and currently works for Stantec in Portland, OR. He is fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish.
