Coastal Economist and Team Lead for Coastal Resilience, Washington Sea Grant

Kevin Decker is a Coastal Economist with Washington Sea Grant, housed within the College of the Environment at the University of Washington.

He works out of The Evergreen State College in Olympia. At Sea Grant, Kevin focuses on economic analysis that assists coastal communities with economic resilience and development issues. He maintains an online site, WACoastEconomist.com, which provides an archive of regional economic studies and interactive data dashboards which provide accessible information on population dynamics, employment, income, housing, and industry trends. He also provides industry-level data for recreational boat sales, commercial fishing, and shellfish aquaculture. He serves on the Grays Harbor County Marine Resources Committee and the OCNMS advisory committee. Kevin has received a Bachelor’s in Economics from Boise State University, a Master’s of Science in Environmental Management from the University of Maryland, a Master’s in Applied Economics from the University of Idaho, and a Ph.D in Environmental Science from the University of Idaho.
