Juli Hartwig is the State Landscape Architect for the Washington State Department of Transportation. Statewide, she develops and champions the agency roadside policy and manages specifications and guidance relating to roadside development in areas outside the edge of pavement of the traveled way within WSDOT right of way.

Subject areas within the scope of Juli’s role at WSDOT include engineered soil and soil amendments as stormwater Best Management Practices (BMP), soil bioengineering techniques, permanent erosion control, tree canopy preservation and replacement, ecosystem restoration, visual resource management and promoting the health of pollinators. She has worked for WSDOT since 2004 and has been involved with numerous projects involving wetland and riparian mitigation, revegetation for stream restoration and fish passage, roadside restoration and habitat restoration. Juli has a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree from the University of Washington and is a registered Landscape Architect. She also represents WSDOT on the Washington Community Forestry Council.
