Johnson, Rachel
Rachel Johnson is an engineer at Herrera in Seattle, where she specializes in climate change planning for watersheds, stormwater, and coastal areas. Her work at Herrera includes conducting and overseeing sea level rise vulnerability assessments, climate vulnerability assessments, stormwater management and retrofit plans, GIS analyses, field data collection, and hydrologic analyses in support of a range of planning projects. She also has expertise in technical writing, science communication, and outreach. Rachel brings an interdisciplinary approach to projects, pulling on her diverse background in engineering, policy, and education. Prior to joining Herrera, she earned a B.A. in Geology from Carleton College, taught environmental education abroad, earned double master’s degrees in water resources engineering and management from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and served as a coastal resilience policy analyst and program manager at NOAA headquarters.
