Landon, Kyle

Coastal Engineer, Moffatt & Nichol

Kyle Landon is a Coastal Engineer with Moffatt & Nichol, and is based out of Seattle. As a coastal engineer, he has contributed to the design and preparation of plans and specifications for marinas, urban waterfronts, coastal and bank protection structures, navigation channels and structures, habitat enhancement and riparian mitigation, and shoreline restorations including large wood structures. Kyle regularly analyzes and documents site conditions at the water-land interface for tidal rivers, estuaries, and coastlines. Specific analyses include coastal hazards assessment, geomorphology studies, sea level rise (SLR) vulnerability assessments, and documentation of environmental impacts for sites all over the West Coast. These studies are used to support the design and repair of in-water structures, local planning efforts, and habitat restorations. He is an experienced geographic information system (GIS) user, and uses this software knowledge to successfully assimilate disparate datasets and communicate designs, complex coastal hazards to clients and stakeholders.

Kyle received a BS in Civil Engineering from University of California, Davis, and a MS in Coastal Engineering from Oregon State University. He has been practicing coastal engineering in the PNW since 2012 and is a registered professional engineer in Washington, Oregon and California.
